Hello there! Thank you so much for visiting my little internet nook. My name is Caitlin, and I’m so happy to have you.
I’m a twenty-something lover of creating, decorating, organizing, reading, and nurturing. I’m a wife to my sweet hubby of five years and a mama to our two-year-old “Bug,” who recently moved to a big boy bed and is talking up a storm! I’m also a mama to a sweet baby named Noah, who is growing big and strong in heaven and will introduce us to his friend Jesus someday. My dream was to be a stay-at-home mom and homemaker, and I can hardly believe it came true 🙂 I am thankful each day that I get to care for this little family of mine, although I am far (far far) from perfect and still have a lot to learn.
If you’re wondering what “Lion & Lantern” means, here it is! I studied English in college and have always delighted in writing and literature. The name Lion & Lantern is an homage to my favorite author, C.S. Lewis. In his book The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, Aslan (a lion) rescues a selfish, unrepentant boy and in doing so brings hope and light to the whole world. I have also been rescued and given a true hope that shines through my darkness, and I want to let that light shine in my home, and in everything that I do 🙂
I am inspired by natural beauty and the changing of the seasons. The renewing warmth of spring. The sweet, sticky days of summer. Family walks through the woods. The first crisp day as autumn approaches. The scent of ripe apples, cinnamon, pine. The sound of leaves crunching or Christmas carols. Sipping hot chocolate as snow falls. All of these things awaken my spirit and make me excited to go about my daily tasks.
I believe it is important to live in the moment and cherish each day. At the same time, I’m a planner at heart and a habitual list-maker. This tension often absorbs my thoughts, as I try to focus on the sweet details of daily life with my toddler, while also keeping our household rolling and being prepared for the future (or for dinner!). If you feel this tension at all, you’re in good company, or at least, you can be in my company 😉
My blog is relatively new, but I’m looking forward to writing about decorating, hospitality, and motherhood. To me, all of these things help to cultivate a warm and inviting home. I’d love to have you follow along! Thank you so much for dropping by today, I hope your day is bright!
