We recently added a new textured pendant light to our kitchen to replace the builder grade fixture! This basket weave bamboo pendant adds so much warmth and character to our white kitchen, just in time for fall.
Hello friends! Thanks so much for stopping by today 🙂 If you’ve been following along on Instagram, you’ll know that our sweet Ladybug was born mid-July. She is already almost six weeks old, and despite the sleepless nights, nursing challenges, and general exhaustion, in retrospect the time has simply flown by!
After a pregnancy that seemed to drag on and on, I am surprised that fall is right around the corner and that our little lady has already grown so much. She has a sweet temperament and the prettiest eyes. We are so thankful for her safe arrival and for the last six weeks of adjusting to life as a family of four (although being honest, there were quite a few days of stress and tears at the beginning. Hormones are no joke!).
I’ve been getting back into decorating over the last few weeks. It may seem like an unnecessary thing during these crazy newborn days, but the creative outlet brings me joy and helps me to feel “normal,” so I’m making a little time for it! My dad recently helped us swap out our builder grade light fixture with this basket weave bamboo pendant from World Market, and I just love the warmth and texture it adds to our very white kitchen.

I rounded up a collection of textured pendant lights in this post, if you are looking for something similar 🙂 This one was budget friendly which was an important factor to me, although I love all of them! We used the existing wiring/chain to make life easy, but World Market sells electrical cord swag kits if you need one:
Overall I am so pleased with the look that can lean either boho or coastal depending on your decor. The pendant gives off a cozy warm glow, and since we are using a frosted bulb, the light is not blinding–my struggle with exposed bulbs in light fixtures–although a filament bulb would also look neat.
I rarely share our kitchen because it is such a high traffic area and never completely tidy or styled. Note that I’m only showing about half of the counter–because the other half was piled high with dishes, bibs, my toaster, and who knows what else! Despite the fact that I love to organize, the kitchen is one space that does not stay photo ready 😉 However, it is fun to style it up! Here I added warm woods and metals, textures, and a pop of mustard yellow to invoke the early days of fall.
I found these brass candlesticks at Goodwill for a few dollars last year, and love the character they add to any space! The footed wooden tray is from the Hearth & Hand line at Target and unfortunately no longer available, but here are some similar trays to add warmth and structure to your space:
For a few touches of green, I added this modern white plant pot and a Moscow mule mug with faux plants inside. I love the look of greenery around the home, but let’s be honest, taking care of my house and two munchkins is enough for me right now! So faux plants it is.
I recently found this beautiful seagrass tray on sale from H&M online–one of my favorite places to shop for budget decor! The trouble with shopping sale items is that they generally sell out soon after, but here are a few pretty items with similar colors and textures:
Our counters are no longer this tidy, but I enjoyed putting this fall kitchen tour together! There is something about the start of a new school year and the first crisp whispers of fall that I find so invigorating. Although I am exhausted and a bit overwhelmed with our season of life right now, I am also excited for the quiet delights of each day, decorating for the holidays, and new adventures to come.
Oh, here is a little behind the scenes shot for you! You never know what (or who) is just out of the shot when looking at blog photos 😉
Have you done any fall decorating yet this year? I would love to see your cozy fall spaces, including decor from previous years if you haven’t started yet this season! Or leave a comment below sharing your favorite autumn treat–I’m getting excited for hot apple cider and pumpkin donuts 🙂
